Jessica Rath
Jessica Rath (American, born 1969) is a environmental artist, educator and ecology graduate student based in Los Angeles. She creates interdisciplinary artworks inspired by the research of scientists in agriculture and ecology. She is currently completing a Masters in Conservation and Restoration Science at UC Irvine.
Her science research interests are plant/arthropod interactions at a landscape level, vegetation succession shifts within restoration, and fire intensity metrics in global climate studies. As part of her artwork, she has investigated apple breeding, bumblebee foraging, and native bee habitat with scientists at Cornell University and University of Nevada, Reno. She is currently an Associate Professor at ArtCenter College of Design, where she is committed to promoting diversity in the arts and sciences. Photo by Marc Pokempner.
