Community Studio @ OXY ARTS - 4 unit course
The ARTS100/EDUC143 course brings a teaching artist, Oxy students, and youth from the neighboring Highland Park schools together in creative collaboration. During the first six weeks of the semester, Oxy students learn core arts education and public engagement pedagogy and develop lesson plans for an original after school art workshop. In the following 6 weeks of the semester, Oxy students will collaboratively lead their workshops for local 4+5th or 6-8th graders, culminating in a final public presentation. The class meets Mondays / Wednesdays, 4-6pm.

Community Studio @ LAUSD - Paid opportunity
The OXY ARTS Community Studio places Oxy students who have taken the ARTS100/EDUC143 course at a local Highland Park elementary school to lead a six-week after school visual art workshop to 4th grade students.
This position is paid hourly, up to 6 hours per week for 12 weeks. This includes paid prep at the beginning of the semester, including training and curriculum development, followed by six weeks of classes at the assigned school site. You will be responsible for developing your own original curriculum. Completion of the ARTS100/EDUC143 course or other relevant Studio Art and Education courses is required. Paid Internships
Each semester and summer OXY ARTS connects selected students with local art partners across Los Angeles for an immersive paid internship. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with artists and organizations across different aspects of the art world—exhibition, publication, performance, education, and more. Host partners include artworxLA, Avenue 50 Studio, Bob Baker Marionette Theater, The Chapter House, and Clockshop. This is a paid student worker position with a 8 hour/ week commitment during the semester and 40 hours/week during the summer.

First Year Position: Gallery Assistant
Every year, OXY ARTS hires a first year student Gallery Assistant through the Hameetman Career Center's First-Year Student Employment Preparation (STEP) program. First year students can apply for this position through Handshake, the career exploration and job search platform available to all OXY students and employers. The Gallery Assistant learns about all aspects of working at a contemporary art gallery, from installation, to greeting visitors, to marketing and outreach. Student Art Collective
The OXY ARTS Student Collective offers students first-hand experience in the Los Angeles arts ecosystem through trips to local museums, student-led, hands-on art workshops, opportunities to participate in community art events, and many more opportunities to get involved with the arts in LA.
