Community Studio @ OXY ARTS - 4 unit course
The ARTS100/EDUC143 course brings a teaching artist, Oxy students, and youth from the neighboring Highland Park schools together in creative collaboration. During the first six weeks of the semester, Oxy students learn core arts education and public engagement pedagogy from faculty member Patricia Yossen and develop lesson plans for an original after school art workshop. In the following 6 weeks of the semester, Oxy students will collaboratively lead their workshops for local 4+5th or 6-8th graders, culminating in a final public presentation. The class meets Mondays / Wednesdays, 3:30 - 6pm. It is cross listed between Studio Art and Education, and satisfies the Art CORE Requirement.
