How does the past show up in the future in the emotional architectures of Greater (and Lesser) Los Angeles? An evening of student engaged poetry considering the temporal moving and shaking on various Southern California locales.
Raquel Gutiérrez is a multi-genre writer specializing in arts writing and poetry. An adult child of Mexican and Salvadoran immigrants, Raquel was born and raised in Los Angeles and currently lives in Tucson, Arizona where she/they just completed two MFAs in Poetry and Non-Fiction from the University of Arizona. Raquel is a 2017 recipient of the Creative Capital | Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant. Raquel also runs the tiny press, Econo Textual Objects (est. 2014), which publishes intimate works by QTPOC poets. Her/Their poetry and essays have recently appeared in ArtNews, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Open Space, The New Inquiry and Hayden’s Ferry Review. Her/Their first book, Brown Neon, will be published by Coffee House Press in the Spring of 2021. Raquel’s first book of poetry, Southwest Reconstruction, will be published by Noemi Press in 2022.
