Collaborate is a FREE series of seven workshops conceived and taught by Occidental College senior students to 6-8th graders in the local community. All workshops will take place at Occidental College. The series culminates in an interactive “exhibition.”

Bennett: I am a Senior at Occidental majoring in Comparative Literature and Art History. I like rock music, world cinema, and religious art. I am the peer writing tutor for Occidental’s Art History department, and on weekends I work as a high school debate coach.
Delarys: I am a Senior at Occidental College majoring in English. I enjoy reading poetry, playing old-school video games and listening to hip-hop music. Previously, I have worked at organizations such as Lincoln Center Education, 826LA, College Spring, and The Studio Museum in Harlem. Nací en Puerto Rico, así que también hablo español!
Peter: I am a senior at Occidental College majoring in Comparative Literature. I’m originally from Minnesota and I enjoy playing tennis, watching/playing other sports, reading all sorts of short stories and novels as well as listening to rock and hip-hop. I’ve worked as a tutor at Occidental for two years, first as a Mellon Research Mentor and now as an EIA Embedded Research Assistant.
Supervising Teaching Artist
Patricia Yossen is a visual artist working in sculpture, drawing, and ceramics, with a strong emphasis on materials, and the complex interactions of domesticity, career, and daily life. As a teaching artist she has worked the Metropolitan Museum of Art, El Museo del Barrio, Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA), and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), designing and leading workshops and hands-on activities to engage audiences and youth. Yossen was born and raised in Argentina, where she received her BFA in sculpture and art education. She went on to study and work in Mexico City for nearly a decade before moving to New York and obtaining an MFA in sculpture at Pratt Institute. Her work has been shown in New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Argentina, Spain and Canada. She lives and works in Eagle Rock, Ca.
