In Fall 2014, Occidental College hosted its first semester-long Wanlass Artists in Residence, Lucky Dragons. Throughout their time on campus they engaged the Occidental community by creating art projects, interventions and organizing guest speakers. As part of their residency, Lucky Dragons organized the exhibition Anticipatio that was on view in the College's Weingart Gallery from October 29 to November 29, 2014.
In their semester at Occidental, Lucky Dragons also taught The Open Score Workshop. This class was a collaborative exploration of the use of scores in music, dance, art and everyday life. The Workshop invited guest "artists" to be in dialogue with students to explore a range of ideas about the score—from music and art to recipes and legal contracts.
From October 29 to November 29, 2014, The Open Score Workshop took the form of a public presentation in the College's Weingart Gallery. The collaboratively designed exhibition, entitled Anticipatio, used visual and text-based instructions as prompts for visitor engagement. These scores were simple actions that anyone could do, framing viewers' experiences as events.
Anticipatio opened at Occidental College's Weingart Gallery on October 29, 2014 with a public reception from 5pm to 8pm.
